Greetings!
Wow — just wow. So much is happening, both personally and professionally, that it feels like I’ve been strapped to a theme park ride with no brakes. Since the last Cosmic Update (just last week!), everything seems to have shifted gears. There’s a lot I want to share … but I promised this edition would focus on PalmCon — so let’s do it …
What is PalmCon?
Not everyone realizes that Cosmic Times is just one part of the larger Cosmic Times Media Group, which is made up of three branches. The first is our comic book production arm, the second is PalmCon — the comic convention I organize here in South Florida. The third branch? Trust me… it’s not as exciting.
Today, we’re focusing on the convention side of things.
Back in 2010, I was at a Free Comic Book Day event reminiscing about how the classic comic shows I loved in my youth had faded, replaced by massive “autograph cons” and overcrowded spectacle events. Sitting next to me that day was Mike Broder, who at the time was running SuperCon. He turned to me and said, “Why don’t YOU run one yourself?”
So … well … I did.
In 2011, the very first PalmCon debuted at the American Polish Club. Since then, it’s been a wild ride filled with highs, lows, and everything in between. Somewhere along the way, I lost sight of why I started hosting these shows — but after taking a step back and recalibrating, I’m proud to say PalmCon is back to what I intended the show to be from the beginning.
Right now, I run two annual shows and they are …
PalmCon: South & PalmCon: Treasure Coast
Back in April, we hosted the second annual PalmCon: South — a compact, one-day event on the Delray/Boca line at the South County Civic Center (just 30 minutes from my house). We packed a weekend’s worth of fun into just 8 hours, and it was a blast. The feedback was some of the best we had ever received. Unless something major changes, PalmCon: South will return on April 11, 2026.
Right after that show, the ramp-up began for PalmCon: Treasure Coast, happening November 8 & 9 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. This will be our second year hosting this event as well and it will continue as a two-day show, … but we are expanding — bigger budget, more offerings, and even more community involvement.
Port St. Lucie showed us last year that they're hungry for type of event we host — and I’m ready to deliver.
When I say I want PalmCon to be different, I mean it. I don’t want people spending their day standing in line — I want interactive, engaging, and affordable entertainment. I spend a lot of time crafting a schedule that’s full of great programming without overwhelming attendees with too much at once. And affordability is key — families should be able to enjoy a full day of fun at PalmCon for less than the cost of going to the movies
You can follow PalmCon on Facebook and Instagram, and don’t forget to check PalmCon.net regularly — updates will be rolling out over the next two months!
So Much More Ahead…
There’s a ton to share about what’s coming next for Cosmic Times — new books, our next Kickstarter(s), and some exciting direct market plans — but BEFORE I get to that the next Cosmic Update will focus on all of the AWESOME conventions we will be attending in the next few months.
Until then — stay inspired, stay engaged…
Stay Cosmic,
Martin
I think I might go to the Treasure Coast one since it's 2 days and would be worth the gas trip, I enjoyed seeing you and Insymmetry at CFCC and Collective Con. I've never been to Port Saint Lucie, yet!
